Our First BPS Patriot Event
What happened on the day. Saturday20th August 2011. The Patriots Event, a march and demonstration to protest against Britain's membership in the EU, Government Foreign Aid, and to demand that the MILITARY COVENANT be brought into LAW as promised by David Cameron before he came into office! The day started off well, the weather was good and it looked like it would be a great start to our first event. As patriots started to assemble at Old Palace Yard, Abingdon St, opposite Parliament Annex, the clouds came over and it started to spit, some of the patriots waited inside and others were outside braving the weather. The rain began to pound down as we began the march, some stayed indoors and didn't fancy getting wet. But the hardcore patriots began the walk to Waterloo, with banners and posters in their hands. Rain would not defeat us.
By this time the rain was pouring down, and everyone was soaking wet, but still we persevered. When we arrived at Waterloo, we had lost a few more patriots to the rain. Unfortunately the weather was that bad that the PA system and stage had to be packed away as it just couldn't be used in the conditions. So with true British spirit, we found a place to speak and the speeches began. All in all a good first event for us, but all the organisation went out of the window due to the unforeseen torrential downpour of rain, which left everyone soaked to the bone. But for the hardcore group of patriots that saw it through to the end, the rain did not dampen their spirit. The day after, the "patriots even"t was mentioned on numerous news sites in a positive light. The British Patriots Society would like to thank all patriots that took part in the march and demonstration. We look forward to many more patriot events in the future.
