Families of dead soldiers can sue MoD over inadequate kit

Families of soldiers killed on the front line in Iraq have won the right to sue the Government for alleged negligence.

 Judges at the High Court ruled today that relatives of two soldiers who died and two who were badly injured could seek compensation for the alleged failure of the Government to provide them with proper equipment and training.

UK ‘must pay’ to regain powers from Brussels

Theresa May

Britain faces a multimillion-pound bill to repatriate some police and justice powers, it has emerged.

Theresa May, the Home Secretary, said yesterday that the Government was planning to opt out of more than 130 measures, including the European Arrest Warrant, amid pressure from Tory backbenchers to claw back powers from Brussels.

Theresa May blocks extradition to US of Gary McKinnon

Theresa May today blocked the extradition of Gary McKinnon, a computer hacker, to the United States because it would breach his human rights.

The Home Secretary said there was a real risk that if Mr McKinnon was sent to America, where he is wanted for hacking into military computers, he would commit suicide.
